I'm a Chinese player ,and I'm testing a translation for Chinese.
I choose my language but it doesn't work (see Screenshot - 04052013 - 02:17:39 PM.png ).
Usually it is caused by using a font incompatible with Chinese words.
But I don't know how to use another font .

I know it is too late for a translation for 0.18,
but I just want to have a try and contribute to the next version.

You shoiuld look into
flare-game/mods/fantasycore/engine/font_settings.txt
and do the same for Chinese (redefine font)
Note language name from two characters, it should be the same in both font_settings.txt and languages.txt
ha,it does work.
I just finished the test of Chinese translation.
The only problem is that i cannot find a free font that supports Chinese chars at present.
but I'm sure I can find one and your suggestions are welcomed.
my next work is to finish other .po files.
and I'll finish alll soon .
I hope I can contribute to the translation of the next version of FLARE.
Because I may be offline most of time ,I hope sb can inform me by email

Some time ago, I ran through the long package descriptions of all fonts in Debian. I seem to recall that there were even more mentions of chinese or kanji.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_CJK_fonts list some CJK fonts
M+ covers (most of the) Japanese characters http://mplus-fonts.sourceforge.jp/mplus-outline-fonts/index-en.html
get it
