attribution url for a dead site?

I am trying to add credits to my game for this resource I used: https://opengameart.org/content/8-bit-sound-effects-library
however the author specifically requests that you provide a link to his website for the attribution. His website doesn't exist anymore and by the looks of it he hasn't been active for years. But for all I know he could still own the website and bring it back online one day. Whats the proper thing to do? I could link to his website and just leave it as a link to a dead site in case he brings it back one day with the same url. or I could link to his opengameart profile which at least works (I also rather not have dead links in my app if possible), advice?
If you can, link to both the dead site and the submission page here on OGA.

I'd link to the website to be safe. Did you try & contact the author? Send them a PM. If their e-mail address associated with OGA is still active, then they should be notified.
Here, the instructions and logo from the site acquired via archive.org
Thanks for the replies everyone. I included the link to the dead site to be on the safe side. I always link to the work and to the author in some way so even if its a dead link I still have a link to the submission itself.
