Twitter -> Identica
Identica is a free software equivalent of Twitter. It has lots of cool features like groups, better discussion tracking, built in transports and attachments. You could easily just create an Identica account for OpenGameArt, and link it to your twitter account, and all your tweets (or 'dents as identica users would call them) would pop up on Identica too, which is populated with a much higher concentration of devs and "open" lovers. There are also groups such as !fossgaming who would love to get updates on OGA. So, what do you guys think?
identi.ca has a strong following among FLOSS developers, including people working on graphic projects (inkscape, openclipart.org and so on)
I agree. If OGA is going onto Identi.ca, then I would second the notion of making a group for it as well so that developers can discuss OGA related topics with each other instead of just having a one-way notification system (as with Twitter and Identi.ca user posts). It's also a more effective means of promotion.
Heck, I could create the group if no one else here will. And if the devs end up creating an official OGA user account on there, then I could make them an admin of the group. I've also created and administrated the Panda3D (FOSS game engine) group.
Xidram, that would be pretty cool :) The one problem that Legend mentioned, however, is that twitter is rather integrated into the site, and he'd have to find a way to get that functionality for identica (although I did mention the transport to him)
Well, I created the group, but it seems their latest upgrade (to StatusNet 0.9.0beta4) broke access to newly created groups. It seems another user has already reported the issue here: http://identi.ca/conversation/203.... I'm sure this will be fixed very soon. When it is, the address for the group should be here: http://identi.ca/group/oga or http://identi.ca/group/opengameart.
Kewl, pushing it to !fossgaming now :) Hopefully we get a few members soon
Oh, I guess that means we have access to it. Great. I just updated the logo and design to reflect the OGA site theme.
