Android 3D (rendered to png sprite sheets) RPG - Relic: Prosper Vale
Relic: Prosper Vale
A group of friends are given the quest to recover a Relic that made the town of prosper vale prosperous. It was stolen, and they must travel following where it went. They find how each town aquired the Relic and how they lost it.
I'm using the characters and monsters from Reiner's Tilesets (2D) which are renderings of 3D art into sprite sheets. I've got some good tile maps, and characters, but what I don't have is really fancy 3D (rendered to sprite sheets) attack animations for spells and weapon attacks. This game uses a 3/4 top down view on the map. In battles the enemies are lined up along the top of the screen and the player's characters are lined up along the bottom. They face each other. When they attack they don't move, but do an attack animation, then a graphical animation is overlayed on the center of the target, then a reaction from the target to being hit and a bouncing damage animation. I've done a few graphical attack animations myself, but I'm a programmer not an artist.
A free version with half of the adventure is going to be released on the Android market. For a couple of dollars they can purchase the full version which doesn't have advertisements and has the full adventure. I'm looking for artwork and artists that match a 3D rendered to sprite sheets style (check out the 2D section of http://www.reinerstilesets.de/ for examples of the style). I'm not planning on sharing the source code to the game, but I'm planning on linking to all of the artists that I use art from, and I'm willing to do a deal where the artists retain the rights to the artwork and I pay them a royalty based on advertising and sales revenue of the game.
So far I have the starting town of Prosper Vale (I'll probably add more to it later), as well as a woodland where the player encounters goblin adversaries. After that I have a long road where many NPC travelers chat with the players. They encounter a boss battle with bandits.
The gameplay time so far is around 10-30 minutes depending on if you explore the entire woodland or simply rush to the next area. With just a few hours work I can add a level/area with NPCs, Enemies, chests, doors, etc.... I plan on making the game pretty big with at least 40+ hours of gameplay. I'm working on a map, NPC, Placeable (chests, doors, etc...) editor which should speed this up greatly.
I've got the players characters fully done (minus all of the abilities they can use throughout the game. I have about 5 levels of abilities finished). I've got the items and money system in place. I have the systems that control chests, battles, item drops (from battles), money drops from battles, experience and leveling up (from battles), conversations (that read and set keys for conditional use), Shops (buying and selling), locked doors (unlocked from previously set keys from conversations). Each of the four main characters level up and gain traits and abilities in different ways.
The "Terran" gains traits and abilities based on which ones they use most. So if they use their defense most (as in getting hit a lot) then their defense has a higher chance of increasing when they level up. Abilities (attacks usable in battle) follow a tree pattern with branches based on which abilities are used most (I have about 10+ abilities so far). Mostly weapon sword attacks. Animations I have are basic line drawings of curved slashes.
The "Drayas" gains traits based on which spirits they encounter (Goblins have one spirit type and Elementals have another). Each spirit has a number of abilities and they are gained in order (so they have to have the spirit ability 1 before they can get the spirit ability 2). I have a few animations from Reiner's tilesets, but most of them are simple and not very fancy.
The Mechanoid gains abilities and traits based on which items they have equipped. With nothing equipped they have 0's across the board and 1 hp, and no abilities. I have a couple of animations but I've been re-using the animations from the Terran's slash attacks.
The Changeling learns traits and abilities from absorbing fallen enemies. (they use the monsters attacks). I have a few animations that I made that are very rough that I use for this.
I'm willing to put my home made animation sprite sheets up on this site if I can get any help. Thanks for any consideration.

Update:
I've been working with blender and I'm making spell animations using the blender particle system and compositer. So far the results are very professional looking. I will release all of my custom art to this site 3 months after the release of the game. I'm still looking for someone to do the modeling of characters and monsters which I can then convert to sprite sheets using blender 2.6.
A few frames of my sprite sheets are attached.
