First time trying anything like this, so constructive feedback and criticism are welcome!
I have no previous experience with pixel art but I do have experience with digital art. As I have to limit my outdoor activities, I decided to give pixel art a try.

64 icons and tiles total, all made with a palette of 30 colours. PNG files, art made with paint.net program. Downloadable file "scene1" contains a very simple mockup level to show one of a possible arrangement of the elements. Enjoy!

Cool! Its a nice style and mockup......for characters, enemies and collectables, I suggest using the darkest black for the outline. That makes them pop out more and differentiates them from the background elements. Also keep the outline to a single pixel in width....especially on corners and slopes. If you want a corner to appear sharp outline all around, but if the corner should be round or soft....cut across it diagonally with the outline and leave out the very tips/points.
The characters are sweet! and I love the floaty bushes. Nice work!
There's a lot to like about this one, especially as a first attempt at pixel art.
Main criticism I have is that the birds and the bushes end up looking two dimensional because of the single pixel black lines and lack of shading. There's a place for that if it was all like that and a choice, but most everything else has some indications of depth.
I was going to go through and pick out the ones I especially like, but it ended up being more than half of them. But just for singling things out, there are the various kinds of plant life, the soil pattern, the particle effects and the shine on the water and coin.
