3D Terrain, Structure, Vehicle Artists needed for SHMUP
Using Blender to craft, Unity to publish.
Looking to assemble a small team (1 or 2 people, plus myself) to tackle the immense workload required to complete my SHMUP, which attempts to create a spectacle of mayhem and destruction via near-full destructibility. This spectacle is the main draw, alongside some innovative controls, multiple craft, etc.
If you can help me with terrain workflow, but dont want to join a team, i would pay for such help. See below.
This game is coming out, hell-or-high-water, and if i find no help i WILL be doing the work myself. But working alone all the time is lame. And having help with the art would allow me to concentrate on making the gameplay super-solid.
TERRAIN TROUBLE:
My primary stumbling block right now is creating convincing terrain around destructible centerpieces like bridges, perched boulders, buildings, etc. which, when attacked (or hit by downed enemies) fall apart, basically. I have little enemies who run around the levels trying to escape, and they get squashed and bleed everywhere; it's pretty great.
The terrain is a scrolling set of meshes.
I have found that once i create a set of tiles, and then import and implement, there are problems with the resulting level design, and i have to start all over again. So the terrain is hard to craft convincingly while keeping effective level-design in mind. Efficiency in geometry and texturing is also important.
This is further complicated by the need for looping segments.
Though the number of planned levels is high, a set of basemeshes could be repainted to provide the required variability.
If anyone has worked on a project with similar terrain requirements in the past, if you have ANY TIPS on creating a better workflow, i would really appreciate them!
OTHER ASPECTS:
The structures themselves are complex. To fall apart convincingly, they basically have to be built up from the boards. My workflow thus far has been to create from small elements, which are jointed in Unity, and then I simplify the model and use that until it gets hit with something. Looks great. Lots of work. I could use help here.
Enemies are similarly complex. My cars, for instance, when damaged, lose panels and show warped chassis segments. Stuff like that. Of they shatter into numerous submeshes in awesome explosions. I seem to be best at this, and require less help here. But if you like making planes and tanks and trucks and stuff, you can help me chip away at these assets.
I have posted a few images of works-in-progress to give people an idea of the general level of detail i'm shooting for. I also posted the base-model for one of my enemies, if youre interested!

CODE / OPEN-SOURCE?:
The game is not open-source... i have done all the coding myself thus far... and i don't really need help with that. I have already written the scripts necessary to replace clean models efficiently with destructible counterparts. Most of the gameplay mechanics have been coded as well, but many aspects will need to be ironed out as the art is fleshed out. Controls and weapons, enemy movement, projectiles, scoring, save/load, all that stuff is in place.
Having knowledge of Unity would be helpful in setting up the assets for import. If you can assemble assets in Unity, that's bonus points for sure.
COMPENSATION:
Prefer to compensate team members with fair PROFIT-SHARE. Lame, i know, sorry.
I am open to paying a small stipend, or a larger stipend with a smaller profit percentage.
Open to any offers.
Will trade services.
IF YOU CAN HELP WITH THE TERRAIN WF, BUT DONT WANT TO JOIN A TEAM:
Open to pay someone a flat fee for a terrain workflow blend file that i can use myself to design all the levels. I already have one but i find it insufficient. Perhaps you could take a look at it and devise something better?
Or if someone can make and paint the terrains and is willing to work with me (to a reasonable degree) then i can pay for the work on a per-level basis or something like that. I'm not helpless so i can make small adjustments myself.
THANKS FOR READING!
TIPS on TERRAINS and BIG PROJECTS like this would be MUCH APPRECIATED!
Seems like a good game idea actually!
There's nothing I can do to help you with your problems tho :'D
lol heard that! thanks for the positivity, though
p.s. this is not a dead thread! i'm still looking for halp. tnx

Hi,
Did you get my portfolio?
Danimal, thanks for this. the links and inspiration are appreciated.
