Game Project Name : Ninja Dog Realm
Hiya i am very new to game making been teaching myself how to script my game over the last 2 years, last 5 months every day i been doing a bit. So still very much a hobby for me and still love the challenge it is providing.
My trouble at the moment:
is art work that is 64 pix x 64 pix that i can use in my game. especialy buildings.
Items i can do fine as i can draw them within the 64 x 64 px and scale the display within my game making engine.
Im a massive fan of The Settlers Online been playing since it started. I have always wanted to build a game. So Im building an rpg type version.
Things I need are like Houses, wood cutter hut, water well, farm building etc ( would love 64 x 64 pics as my game includes tile switching in script
if anyone can help on where to get such art, or can draw some i would be so grateful.
I like this style of graphic, but would need the buidings without the ground art.
The most important keyword you should be looking for is 'isometric'. Go to Browse, type in 'isometric' in the search field, click the 2d art button. This is the second item that comes up, just with that: http://opengameart.org/content/isometric-64x64-medieval-building-tileset
If you don't find something quite right that way, try going to google and typing in your search terms along with: site:opengameart.org (This site's search engine can be weird and fussy sometimes.) The exact size and style you want will probably just be a matter of browsing.
Best of luck!
Thanks so much for the tip. i watched a video for first time on isometric art last night on u tube will defo be looking in to more
Will check your project out to :)

by the way could you tell me what talkative points are for plz
Ninja Dog
City Building Game Art's stuff has a lot of things that look very much like the same style as your preview image above: http://opengameart.org/users/city-building-game-art
There is also the broader Isometric Tiles collection. Not everything will be what you're looking for, but it might get you in the right neighborhood. (You could also try an advanced tag search for "Isometric")
@"talkative points": OGA grants users points for performing various actions. Most of them involve submitting art of some kind. "Talkative" points are awareded when you participate in a discussion here in the forums or on specific art submissions. Your three comments above earned you three talkative points. They're mostly just for fun, but I think they are indeed fun. :) See http://opengameart.org/comment/55632#comment-55632 for a list of the various points and medals you can get.

2d art was correct.
CC0 is good but it doesn't require people to credit you. If you want credit, i recommend CC-BY or OGA-BY.
--Medicine Storm
how can i change it to that i cant evan find it on 2d art bit is the easy way to search for it
Ninja Dog
worked that out so i changed to cc-by 3 is that right plz?
Ninja Dog
Looks good.
Search indexing isn't instant. It may take about a day before submissions will show up in search, but that mine asset is showing up in the 2D art section

could someone post licence explaination link plz i cant find it
Ninja Dog
You can find what you need on the F.A.Q link at the top of the page. :)
theres a lot of open black space on your title screen, maybe try and fill it out a bit more, and I'd have your "ninja dog realm" titles bigger. :)

whats a game jam plz ? i very new to here and it says nothing to me atm, im looking into creating pixel art atm using gimp instead of paint. watching lots of tutorials.
atm = at the moment
best regards and enlightment very welcome
Ninja Dog
and i programming my game as well not evan thought of music or sound tracks yets
my best regards to all
Ninja Dog
Gamejams are events were programmers code a game from scratch, and normally based on a theme of some kind, the rules vary on gamejams depending who is hosting them and they are time limited. Ludum Dare is the biggest one i'm aware of, create a game in 48 or 72 hours, but there are many others being hosted with longer time frames.
i use Gimp but only for editing GIFS, so i cant help there.
good luck with your game.
:)

Hey Ninja Dog, ive been following your project for a while now, still looking great! I love your style! This is a palette I found online that I use frequently.
https://orig14.deviantart.net/dd17/f/2010/316/8/2/colour_palettes_by_str...
its more Low-Poly in design, but it might help, you can always mash a couple together too and see what that does.

hi EZduzziteh
thanks for taking the time to reply, and i like the pallete thanks, helps me see certain colours better. what licence has the pallette got plz as i would love to use and i not on deviantart, really hope public or cc-by 3.0.
Ninja Dog
Well that image was put together by one person but as you can see every specific palette was created by a dfferent person. I am not sure as to the license specifically of this image, but this is the original post linking back to the site ColourLovers:
http://www.deviantart.com/art/Colour-Palettes-No-1-185785704
At the top of their page, they state:
"Colourlovers is a creative community where people from around the world create and share colors, palettes and patterns, discuss the latest trends and explore colorful articles...all in the spirit of love"
If you are really worried about it there is nothing stopping you from using the eyedropper tool in any image editor and tweaking the colours, or even creating your own(this is what I do as even in a low poly setting, 5 colours just doesnt cut it for me.). That being said, I didn't even think it was possible to apply a license to a colour palette, or specifically a group of colours. The image arranged exactly as is could fall under license protection though.

ty spring for feed back i find doing whole scene's hard to darw and to merge in to other scene's. any tips plz?
Ninja Dog
What you think bout hud?
best regards
Ninja Dog
Start HUD.png 17.2 Kb [0 download(s)]
The hud is nice, again keeping with the DOS-style theme, I see. Don't know what the different rings and such are supposed to represent tho.
And I think the reason why you find it hard to merge scenes is because you don't seem to have decided wheter your game is isometric or not, and mixing isometric, with top-down does not always work out well.
