Warrior sprites for a 2D sidescrolling platformer
Friday, June 24, 2016 - 14:20
Okay, so I'm a fairly accomplished sprite artist, but a good warrior sprite has alluded me for a while, and I need one to continue development of the game.
It needs to fit the following criteria:
- Fill most of the space inside the red rectangle (buffer) at a 1-to-1 resolution.
- Make sure only outlines and details like weapons and similar accesories only leak into the buffer.
- Be in a similar style to the wizard sprites (included below)
- Have a walking animation, idle animation, attack animation, and charging (dash attack) animation
- Weield a sword
- Wear red armor
Preferences (Should be easy to fit, and are preferred, but not 100% necessary if you can't):
- When exporting the animations, they should be either a series of labelled PNGs or a single GIF, with (a) transparent background(s). If you're using Aseprite, please send over the .ase file too in case I need to make minor changes.
- Try to export at 2-to-1 resolution without any form of background, and without the buffer itself visible.
- Use a Creative Commons license. I'd prefer that all the sprites in the finished product be usable by everyone. (Of course, fulfilling this commission is recognised as waiving any usage rights except attribution to me. In other words, I can do what I want so long as I give you credit, which is expected of a commission.)
Compensation:
- $5 or more (likely more) upon satisfactory completion, based on quality of work
- Credit as an artist in the finished product
- Quality work will build trust in you, so I'll ask you first for future work of this nature.
Resources provided (in order):
- Wizard walking sprite, provided at preferred 2-to-1 resolution
- Wizard idle sprite, provided at preferred 2-to-1 resolution
- Wizard default standing sprite, provided at preferred 2-to-1 resolution
- Wizard idle sprite with buffer, provided at preferred 2-to-1 resolution
- Buffer at 1-to-1 working resolution. If you need to recreate it, the frame is 20*30px, with the 2 outermost layers as the buffer.
Additional notes (may be updated periodically):
- Huh. The animated sprites made the wizard's eyes transparent or something. They shouldn't be transparent; they should be black. I haven't seen this issue elsewhere.
- Basically, the buffer box is basically the part of the sprite without collision. In other words, it should only be in there if an enemy hitting it wouldn't really hurt the player character. Likewise, the area inside the box is the part with collision. It should be mostly filled with things the player would expect to get hit.
- All the resources provided (except the buffer) are under a Creative Commons 4.0 BY-SA-NC license. Meaning, you can use it for any non-commercial purpose so long as you give me credit. The buffer itself is just a rectangle, so I don't really care how you use it.
Sorry if I sound strict, I'm just trying to be thorough enough to make it easiest for the both of us. Exceptionally low-quality work will be rejected. Thanks,-P1k----Papayaman1000Digital Artist, Sprite Artist, Composer, Developer
