Please try our GGJ entry vodoo tycoon. Instead of generic shop you are managing a potion shop. There is a game on Kongregate about managing a shop, you probably need to try that one too. For graphics, I am also willing to help on anything that is not organic. So swords, shields, jewels, buildings but not people, pets or armors.
As you have noticed outer border is a non-issue. But the idea for equipments is a good idea.
Here is the program: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11Q6kknJzL0N0x2RW1Jd1U3dDg Simply drag images on top of it. I can also provide source code but it would take time to arrange and upload. Also it takes time to process large images and the program is not responsive while processing.
This is the original conversion. Your decision on placing border seems artistical (obviously) rather than algorithmic. Could be hard to automate that process.

You should choose CC-By for the license. CC-0 does not place any restrictions.
Someone should make an LPC compatible version of this.
Definitely. After you get it published, toss its link, I would love to see them in action.
I think you should update preview to a non-scaled image. When scaled down they look like simple drawings but full resolution version looks amazing.
Here it is, without any modifications. Settings: size: 8, outer color: 0, inner color: 0, shadow color: ff000000, shadow distance 1

@call me: You may use them with any of those licenses. Since they are incompatible, author's explicit permission for multiple licenses are required.
