Well, it's not fully burried, it's still in the back of my mind.
If I find a way to realize the gameplay in a way that satisfies me, I might take it on. I haven't come to point where the ideas I have feel like they'll be fun to play.
But I don't want to have to do it, so I put it up here.
The jam was short and I wouldn't have been able to realize it in an for me acceptable way.
Maybe I add extensions for this, sketching gameboy stuff is fun.
Another thing that recently went through my head is a mod jam, since mods jam. (For some games they are more like full games)
Doing crossovers between the big FLOSS games (Xonotic, 0ad, warzone 2100, megaglest, supertuxkart, supertux, wesnoth, springRTS, flare, openttd etc.) or bringing concepts from oga to these games.
And the book I linked is a good example for different terms of protection:
Released in 1908.
This is definitely public domain in the US since 1984 (publication date + 75 years if it was renewed)
John Rea Neill (the illustrator) died 13th September 1943.
In Germany it's public domain since 2014 (death of last author + 70 years) thanks to a copyright law reform in 1965, which applied to all works which authors weren't already dead for 70 years.
The pumpkin guy is from the same book, yes.
The links are for checking that it's all right.
I don't know enough about public domain, I don't know how safe it is to use.
I don't know if it only must be public domain in the jurisdiction of to the author of the original derivate or if it also must be public domain in the jurisdiction of everybody who wants to use it.
So I don't know how important it is to know when the last author died.
8x8 ... damn, I love that

I love the style
Using openly licensed assets gives a bonus point.
I never finished that, but I have a wolf thing: https://opengameart.org/content/lpc-modular-bodies-and-heads
(Walking is finished, but I wanted the other animations to work too)
FLOSS means Free/Libre Open Source Software.
All the games I listed can be downloaded for free by everyone and are devoloped by communities, their modding capabilities differ though.
A bonus is that you could get old versions if mods break with newer ones.
The ones I listed are also all cross platform games afaik.
