I agree that starting small is extremely important for actually getting sh** done lol. I recommend trying unity or gamemaker. Also I would focus on choosing the engine rather than the programming language if you dont actually know how to program. then learning how to program in the language that the engine uses. start with 2d, at least breifly and stick with either python, c++, java or c#. and google is your best friend. even googling something similair to your posted forum question would probably take you right where you needed to go.
I like the the way the frame looks.. I just dont know what materials to make mine out of if I would do something similair to that... ): The game looks cool though! what is it?
ahh I see what your saying... Well the engine I use doesnt actually compile my code per se, It just fuses it to the .exe that executes the code I write as a new .exe, so essetially any monkey with a file explorer could get into my crap... D:
lol the puns.... okay so comment #1 good idea I realized shortly after this how a good background would impact the game being a bit more exciting...
#2 Good idea, I think having a sort of beginning narrative is a fantastic idea that Im going to work on right after I post this, I feel like survival games as a genre majorly under utilize a good story. I will think about move based combat, but for the moment Im honestly at a bit of a loss for even based attacks hitboxes etc.... D;
#3 I kindve thought about this believe it or not, because each animal/plant has a set of stats (size, str, spd, hp) and I was thinking of giving items varied sizes and nutritional content. Maybe I could also give items bonuses based on the enemy consumed stats?
I didnt want to, but Ill post my executable here in a bit, but it will be (x64 windows ) just so you know (dont feel like doing anything else).
To whoever would like to steal my code: I don't know who you are, I don't know what you want. If you are looking for a ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very brief and insignificant career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my code go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will sue you. For a lot of money.
Also, does anyone have ideas for how my inventory screen should look? It will use a max weight, each item will be lined up as vertically descending panels. in a box. Im just not sure about the textures. Thanx. :)
This is awesome... I will consider using this in my game.. I will let you know.
These are awesome! Thanks

W - jump
A - walk left
D = walk right

Why? I have no idea. But that doesnt mean I will be careless with something im planning to make money off.
