Whenever I press space to jump, it scrolls me to the bottom of the page. Understandably, this makes it rather unplayable, which is a shame because I'd like to give it a proper spin. (Lastest FF update, 8.0, no plugins on atm).
Also, LOTR's copyright status is... complicated in the US. I believe the first edition is actually technically not under copyright here due to shenanigans. But don't quote me on it if you end up in court?
No offense, but to me this sounds something like "Hey, let's make an MMO! We don't really have much direction or a team, but we'll just wing it." Maybe I'm just misunderstanding, but if that's generally the case you're probably going to have trouble. MMOs are perhaps the hardest type of project out there, even with a full and dedicated art and coding team and a good idea of what you're doing (been there). You can't just throw things at this sort of project and see what sticks; you'd probably have more luck with something a little simpler and less soul-crushing.
@Charlie: there's definitley exaggeratoin in the arm movements. This is pretty important, though, to make the animation look more active (you'll generally find this sort of thing is common in most platformers).
@Mumu: Awesome as always! I am a big Samurai Jack fan, which only adds to my enjoyment of this.
By the way, here's the jump with one more frame to smooth it out a bit (hopefully makes the apogee less jerky):
You decollaborated me? You monster! xD

This might deserve some sort of "sticky" status to stay on the front page?

Spent a few minutes filling it out carefully, and then it told me that my session had expired or something similar when I tried to submit it. :\

This is a very neat song, but I agree that the violin sample is dragging it down. It is literally giving me a headache.

Hmm... I still can't really tell the genre, but it almost looks like you're doing an adventure game? This might fit the bill, though: http://opengameart.org/content/side-scrolling-fantasy-themed-game-assets
