For the record, I've been curating a few collections sort of in preparation for this. I have archive-complete collections of 2D platformer and isometric assets. That may be useful for more specific categorization or tagging.
@riidom: nope, definitely bots of one sort or other. They've got a bit of context-sensitivity in their posts but that's just the fact that we're in the space-future. The vast majority of these guys get caught in the filter--this is likely just another evolutionary step that's found a weakness in the current setup, which I assume will be patched with similar speed, however that works.
Spambots are constantly attacking, as you might imagine. It's not very common that they get this far in but it happens. The IRC is usually a faster place to get in touch with someone who can deal with them, though we all know that attendance there is spotty.
I'm glad that you've come to OGA to get help on your project, but you really need to give more information before anyone can help you. Important things like the size, resolution and general style you're going for, what kind of tiles you're using, etc. There are a lot of RPG resources already in the archives, so that would be a good place to start as well.
First, kudos for asking for art at the right time: ie, when you have a playable game to show off.
A few things that need to be clarified before we can really help much:
You essentially said you want to start from the ground up on art to remove copyrighted stuff, which is good. You might want to be more specific on that, though. How many enemies, tiles, target resolution/style, etc. I think you have a really good chance of getting some help here, but those things will make it easier for people to get started.
As a side note, there are quite a few platformer-centric resources on OGA, which may at least serve as a basis for further expansion. I have them all collected here (tiles) opengameart.org/content/platformersidescroller-tiles-and-backgrounds here (characters/enemies) opengameart.org/content/platformersidescroller-characters-and-enemies and here (items/misc) http://opengameart.org/content/platformer-sidescroller-items-effects-misc
I'll send more detailed time info over email when the last animation and formatting are done, but suffice to say that currently we're totally good on the funding front.
Aaaaaaaaaand fixed.
What William said. definitely not a bug on the shoes layer which will be fixed soon.

As always, great work!

Thanks man! And here's the side bite:
Because the abdomen mostly doesn't rotate in frames it should be pretty easy to make variations on it, in patterning and in shape as well.

Alrighty, sounds good to me.
Now, the side view, and side walking
